Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 Locks October 14 Release on PC and Consoles, With Switch 2 to Follow

Auroch Digital and Big Fan Games have locked in October 14 as the release date for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The studios confirmed the date in a press release on Wednesday, alongside a brand-new trailer that showcases the first footage of the game’s main antagonist, Vashtorr the Arkifane — the “daemonic demigod of inventors, engineers, scientists and artisans.” A Nintendo Switch 2 edition is set to follow shortly after the October 14 launch.

The new trailer also features a first listen to the sequel’s original soundtrack, composed for the project by Mick Gordon, who is best known for his work on DOOM (2016), DOOM Eternal and Wolfenstein: The New Order. Auroch Digital describes the track as “absolutely shredding” in its announcement materials.

In the game, Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath travel to an isolated star system to investigate reports of increased Chaos activity, only to discover Vashtorr awakening a vast daemonic machine at the centre of a planet and triggering a catastrophic explosion that destroys much of the Imperial fleet. The duo must then race from world to world to cleanse the corruption powering Vashtorr’s machinations and attempt to banish the demigod back to the Warp.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is the sequel to Auroch Digital and Big Fan’s 2023 boomer-shooter, continuing the series’ “unrepentant strafing action” with an expanded weapon selection, returning enemies such as Nurglings and Chaos Cultists, and new foes including Bloodletters and their Juggernauts. The game is already listed on Steam for PC, with the console versions set to join it on October 14.

The October 14 release date has also been confirmed on the game’s Steam store page, and the official press release is available on Games Press. The new trailer can be watched on the Auroch Digital YouTube channel.
