Ubisoft Announces Rainbow Six Tactics, a Single-Player Turn-Based Spin-Off for 2027

Ubisoft has officially unveiled Rainbow Six Tactics, the franchise's first dedicated single-player, turn-based tactical experience, during gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. Authored by Brittany Spurlin and published on the Ubisoft News site, the reveal frames the new game as a new chapter in the Rainbow Six universe that runs in parallel with Rainbow Six Siege's timeline.

In Rainbow Six Tactics, players step into the boots of Six, the leader of the elite Rainbow squad. From choosing a high-stakes assignment to strategising at HQ, then executing tactical plans in the field, the entire experience is built around preparation, intel-gathering, and turn-by-turn decision making. Ubisoft confirms the game will ship with 15 Operators, each with their own abilities, specialised gadgets, and distinct skill trees.

Missions span more than 45 locations around the world and draw directly from the series' familiar objective set, including Hostage Rescue, Bomb Disposal, and Target Elimination. Before deployment, players assign up to four Operators to their squad and choose a plan of attack. Once in the field, the iconic destructible environments return: walls can be breached to open new lines of sight, enemy cover can be removed, and new points of entry can be carved out as the situation evolves. Reconnaissance drones also make the jump from Siege into the turn-based format.

Combat introduces a dedicated Breach Planning mode that lets players coordinate synchronised actions for their active squad and resolve them in a single high-intensity move. Between operations, players return to base to upgrade their headquarters, train Operators, and strengthen their team for the next deployment.

Rainbow Six Tactics is targeting a 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, GeForce Now, Blacknut, and PC via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, where the title is already open for wishlisting. As noted by PC Gamer, IGN, Rock Paper Shotgun, Game Informer, GamesBeat, Kotaku, Shacknews, VGC, DualShockers, TheSixthAxis, GamingBolt, and others, the announcement marks the first single-player Rainbow Six game since Vegas 2 in 2008 and reframes the franchise's Siege DNA for a turn-based audience reminiscent of XCOM.
