CD PROJEKT RED has set September 29, 2026 as the release date for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, a free upgrade for everyone who already owns the base game on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement was made today during the studio's first official look at the project, and a freshly launched CD PROJEKT RED article confirms the date alongside details on the game's arrival on Blizzard's Battle.net storefront.

The CD PROJEKT RED story makes clear that the Remastered edition is positioned as a comprehensive visual and technical overhaul rather than a sequel. According to the studio, players can expect "a slew of upgrades and enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and more," with the project rebuilt for modern hardware. The game's PlayStation Store product page lists native 4K resolution with full HDR support, ray-traced lighting, Tempest 3D AudioTech on PS5, DualSense haptics, fast-travel via the console's SSD and a choice between ray-traced 30 FPS presentation or a 60 FPS Performance Mode on compatible HDMI 2.1 displays.

Free upgrades are unusual at this scale, and CD PROJEKT RED has confirmed that every existing owner — including holders of the standalone Complete Edition — will receive the Remastered build at no additional cost. According to the article, the September 29 release hits Battle.net at the same time as the other platforms, expanding The Witcher 3 to Blizzard Entertainment's launcher for the first time. CD PROJEKT RED Global PR Director Radek Grabowski describes the Battle.net partnership as "a collaboration three decades in the making," tracing the relationship back to the original CD PROJEKT's role as Blizzard's Polish distributor in the late 1990s.

Beyond the Remastered release, CD PROJEKT RED used the same announcement to officially reveal Songs of the Past, a brand-new story expansion shipping in 2027. The expansion sends Geralt of Rivia to Letten, a region the studio describes as "an idyllic land of rural tradition and folklore that hides a dark secret just below the surface." As part of the collaboration with Blizzard, players who pre-purchase or later buy Songs of the Past on Battle.net will receive a Geralt-themed cosmetic skin for Diablo IV, with a deeper look at the crossover planned for BlizzCon 2026 in Anaheim.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was originally released in 2015 and remains one of the most decorated role-playing games of the generation. CD PROJEKT RED did not announce a price for newcomers or for owners of the standard, non-Complete edition of the game on other storefronts. The Remastered upgrade applies automatically on September 29, while Songs of the Past is targeting a 2027 window with additional details promised closer to launch.
