Stray Dog: Nobody Cares Is a Dark Fantasy Soulslike Where You Play a Hound With a Sword in Its Mouth

Parry Frames Studio has revealed Stray Dog: Nobody Cares, a soulslike on Steam that puts players in control of a knight's four-legged companion trying to free its captured master, with parries, backstabs and boss fights inspired by Great Grey Wolf Sif.

Stray Dog: Nobody Cares Is a Dark Fantasy Soulslike Where You Play a Hound With a Sword in Its Mouth

A stray dog gripping a frayed sword in its jaws is the pitch for Stray Dog: Nobody Cares, a new dark fantasy soulslike from Parry Frames Studio that surfaced on Steam over the weekend.

The game stars an unnamed hound raised from birth by a disgraced, retired knight. After the knight is captured, the dog sets out alone across the medieval kingdom of Greythorn to rescue him. The setting is a familiar FromSoftware-flavoured landscape of burning villages, invading legions and nameless gods, and the studio is leaning hard into the Great Grey Wolf Sif comparison, with the hound's acrobatic sword combat, balletic sweeps and ability to parry, backstab and execute deathblows all framing the four-legged protagonist as a direct callback to the Dark Souls boss fight.

Stray Dog: Nobody Cares is listed on Steam with developer and publisher Parry Frames Studio, a self-described small team that previously shipped its debut soulslike Crimson Oath earlier this year. Crimson Oath carries a "very positive" rating on Steam and was partly funded by an Epic Megagrant, and the studio says the new project's combat framework is already complete.

The studio published a Steam post saying it was caught off guard by the response, explaining that the game "suddenly became popular on X" after it shared early test footage from its own account. Players have already latched onto the premise, with Kotaku's coverage of the announcement drawing the obvious parallel to Sif and PC Gamer highlighting that Parry Frames is approaching the soulslike formula from a deliberately unconventional angle.

The Steam page lists a coming-soon release with no announced date and confirms PC as the only confirmed platform. According to the developer, Stray Dog will ship with stealth kills, custom levels, multiple combat arts, precise parries and brutal boss fights, and Parry Frames plans to make more of the game playable "soon" following the test footage reaction.

For anyone who has wanted to see what happens after the Artorias fight, Stray Dog: Nobody Cares is now wishlistable on Steam.
