Sony and LEGO Officially Unveil 1,911-Piece LEGO PlayStation Console Set for October 1 Release

Sony Interactive Entertainment and the LEGO Group officially unveiled the LEGO PlayStation during the September 3 State of Play, confirming a near 1:1 brick-built replica of the original 1994 PlayStation console and its controller. The 1,911-piece set measures 10.5 inches (26 cm) wide when fully assembled and launches October 1, 2026 at a recommended retail price of $179.99 USD, €159.99, £139.99 or ¥27,980 (including tax).

The reveal was previously leaked in early September via in-store listings spotted by LEGO fan outlet Brick Tap, but the State of Play announcement marked the first full design disclosure from PlayStation and LEGO. According to the PlayStation Blog post, the console replica features functional Power and Open buttons, a controller that physically plugs into the front of the build, and a spring-loaded lid that opens to reveal a large LEGO recreation of the classic PS logo alongside two removable dioramas nodding to two iconic 1990s PlayStation launches: a Gran Turismo mini track with scaled-down cars, and an Ape Escape island scene with a monkey figure whose helmet light can be swapped between blue and red.

The LEGO PlayStation will be sold directly from PlayStation via direct.playstation.com starting October 1 in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Portugal. LEGO Insiders Early Access and broad availability through LEGO.com and LEGO Stores open on October 4, 2026. Set number 72306 carries an Astro Bot gift-with-purchase while supplies last. The collaboration extends LEGO's lineup of console recreations, which already includes the Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis sets.
