PlayStation State of Play September 2026: Every Major Reveal Across Two Back-to-Back Shows
Sony ran a back-to-back State of Play on September 3 with 30+ games across the main broadcast and State of Play Japan. Highlights include first looks at Maneater 2 and Rhapsody in Scarlet, release dates for Metro 2039 and Fate/Extra Record, and a confirmed April 8, 2027 launch for Final Fantasy VII Revelation.

PlayStation ran a double-header on September 3 with a main worldwide State of Play followed immediately by State of Play Japan, hosted once again by Yuki Kaji. Across more than 30 games, Sony and its partners showed new reveals, deep-dives and release date reveals, capping the showcase with a Final Fantasy VII Revelation gameplay trailer and a confirmed April 8, 2027 launch window.
The main show opened with the launch trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine ahead of the September 15 release, then moved through a Resident Evil film teaser (the Zach Cregger-directed feature hits theaters September 18), the Most Wanted mode for Ghost of Yōtei, and Metro 2039 PS5 Pro gameplay with the launch pinned to February 4, 2027. Other surprises included the first Maneater 2 trailer (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 in 2027), the Crimson Desert “Charting the Unknown” expansion (October 15), and the LEGO PlayStation console reveal — a 1,911-piece set launching October 1.
State of Play Japan then shifted focus to Japanese and Asian partners. New announcements included CONQ: Crown of No Quarter, an open-world warfare game revealed in its first trailer, and Rhapsody in Scarlet, Konami’s jazz-fantasy action-RPG set in 1920s New York that is launching in 2027 on PS5. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 also debuted with a wide-character look ahead of its 2027 PS5 release, while Digimon Story Time Stranger: A Hero’s Eternal Legacy was announced as an expansion DLC for 2027, and The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes arrived as the series’ first console game, also targeting 2027.
Confirmed release dates out of the broadcast include Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World on December 3, Fate/Extra Record on January 28, 2027 (PS5 and PS4), Gundam Rogue Orbit on March 5, 2027 and Final Fantasy VII Revelation on April 8, 2027. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, an upcoming expansion to Capcom’s action RPG, was confirmed for 2027 with new Elder Dragon designs and a Skybound Eyrie biome that the team will demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Gran Turismo 7’s two-part Spec IV update lands later this year with 12 cars, two circuits and a Family mode, while Until Dawn 2 was confirmed for January 26, 2027.
PlayStation Plus additions included Mycopunk heading to the Game Catalog later this year, with MegaMan X: Command Mission, Dino Crisis 2 and the original Ratchet & Clank joining the Classics catalogue. Two limited-edition Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense wireless controllers (Black and White) were also announced for November 19 at $84.99, with pre-orders opening September 10, ahead of GTA VI’s own November 19 launch.
