Pikmin 3 Deluxe Scores Free Nintendo Switch 2 Update With GameShare and Sharper Resolution
Nintendo pushes Version 1.2.0 of Pikmin 3 Deluxe to Switch 2 with sharper resolution and GameShare in Bingo Battle, becoming the first Pikmin game to get a Switch 2 update.

Nintendo has released Version 1.2.0 of Pikmin 3 Deluxe as a free Nintendo Switch 2 update, bumping resolution and adding GameShare support to the company's eight-year-old real-time strategy game. The patch went live on August 31, 2026, and Nintendo formally added it to its official "Free updates for select Nintendo Switch games" hub on September 1, alongside a promotion post on Nintendo of America's social channels.
According to Nintendo's support documentation for the game, Version 1.2.0 adds "support for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution televisions, resulting in a sharper image," and introduces GameShare, allowing the Bingo Battle mode to be played locally or through a GameChat session. The full change notes published by Nintendo read: "Added support for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution televisions, resulting in a sharper image. Added support for GameShare. From 'Bingo Battle' on the title screen, options for 'Local Play' and 'Via GameChat' have been added." The patch only changes behaviour on Nintendo Switch 2; Nintendo explicitly states there are no changes to the original Switch build.
The release is the latest entry in Nintendo's free Nintendo Switch 2 update programme for first-party Switch software, which previously covered ARMS, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Splatoon 3, Super Mario Odyssey, Game Builder Garage and several Pokémon and Super Mario entries. With Pikmin 3 Deluxe now on the list, the first Pikmin game to receive Switch 2 enhancements is also unexpectedly the one that launched in 2013 on Wii U, arriving ahead of any patch for 2023's Pikmin 4.
Nintendo has not disclosed which exact resolution Pikmin 3 Deluxe now targets on Switch 2. The official wording only commits to a "sharper image" on the console's display and on high-resolution televisions, leaving the underlying output mode open for analysis. The update is delivered automatically when the console is connected to the internet and the Software Auto-Updates setting is enabled, and saves are carried over from previous versions.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe is available now for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with the new features available exclusively on Switch 2 hardware. The free update is listed on Nintendo's official Switch 2 free updates page and was first surfaced through Nintendo's own support documentation.
