No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 Pushes Launch to March 2027, Adding Open Beta in December
Moon Studios has delayed No Rest for the Wicked's full release from October 2026 to March 2027, citing performance, class system, and polish concerns. The studio is extending the Founders Pack deadline and adding a December open beta ahead of the new launch.

Moon Studios has confirmed that No Rest for the Wicked's long-awaited 1.0 release is moving from October 2026 to March 2027, citing performance work, a tightened class system, and additional polish as the reasons for the slip.
The Vienna-based developer announced the delay on Tuesday alongside a fresh community video from creative director and CEO Thomas Mahler. "Close isn't good enough for our full 1.0 launch," the studio wrote in its official post. "The extra time will help us improve performance, tighten the class system, and polish the whole game to the standard you all deserve. We'd rather take a few more months than ship something that we know isn't quite perfect yet."
The new March 2027 window applies to the PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5 versions of the game. Versions for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 remain in development, but Moon Studios has not yet announced release dates for either platform.
Open beta in December, more closed tests on the way
To bridge the gap, Moon Studios is planning additional closed beta tests over the coming months, followed by a public open beta in December 2026. The studio says the December test will be the final chance for the community to play a near-final version of the game before 1.0 ships in March. Development updates will continue through the Wicked Inside developer diary series on the studio's YouTube channel.
Founders Pack deadline extended
Alongside the delay, Moon Studios is moving the cutoff date for its Founders Pack bonus from July 10, 2026 to January 1, 2027. Anyone who purchased the game in Early Access after the original cutoff will now be retroactively included in the offer. PlayStation 5 pre-orders open in January 2027, and console players will be able to claim the same Founders Pack rewards at that point.
The Founders Pack includes the new Spirit Cavern hideout, the unique Sayer's Vow sword-in-the-stone, and a Founders Tag identifying early adopters, alongside access to an exclusive Public Beta Test Realm that will remain available even after the game's full 1.0 launch.
A long early access road
No Rest for the Wicked, the precision action-RPG from the studio behind Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps, first entered Steam Early Access in April 2024 after its reveal at The Game Awards 2023. The 1.0 release had been confirmed for October earlier this year during the PC Gaming Show. With the move to March 2027, the game will now ship about a month before Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto VI launches for consoles in November; studios have publicly split on whether to dodge or charge toward that release window, and Moon Studios has not framed the decision in relation to GTA 6.
