No Man's Sky Cosmos Update Goes Live on PS5, Adds Player-Run Space Stations and Galactic Alliances for the 10th Anniversary

Hello Games has released the Cosmos update for No Man's Sky, billed as the biggest overhaul to space the procedurally generated universe has received in its ten-year history. Update 7.0 went live on September 9, 2026, and is free for existing owners on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Hello Games founder Sean Murray frames Cosmos as the studio's love letter to the community after a decade of free major updates. The headline feature is a long-requested one: players can now buy and run the space station in their home system, redesigning the central hub, expanding rooms and decorating the exterior with hundreds of new parts. Once a station is yours, you can invite other players to join your own Alliance, pool stations into a networked empire, and compete on new leaderboards for the largest, richest or most prominent alliance in the game.

Cosmos also re-imagines space itself. Hello Games has added dense asteroid belts and ice fields, salvageable space hulks that can be torn apart with a new physics-based gravity gun, hazardous outposts that need to be cleared of invasive biological growth, and free-floating modular orbital bases that can be built anywhere in space. Expeditions also return, with a 10-year anniversary expedition whose milestones each map back to one of the 40-plus major updates shipped since 2016.
