Monster Hunter Wilds Locks December 4, 2026 Switch 2 Release With Local Wireless Play and Cross-Platform Multiplayer

Capcom has locked in a December 4, 2026 release date for Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2, ending months of speculation about the port. The announcement came during Nintendo's September 9, 2026 Direct, where Capcom also confirmed that the game's 2027 expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, will launch on Switch 2 on the same day as other platforms.

The Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds includes every Title Update previously released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, covering the Grand Hub and fan-favorite monster additions such as Mizutsune and Lagiacrus, alongside the Final Fantasy XIV Online crossover content. Capcom also confirmed that the Switch 2 port supports cross-platform multiplayer with the other versions and adds local wireless play between two Switch 2 units, the first Monster Hunter game to use the Switch 2's local wireless feature in this way. The version was first acknowledged in development by Capcom this June, with a Switch 2 release timing later promised.

Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds originally launched on February 28, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and became the fastest-selling title in Capcom's history by moving more than 8 million units in its first three days. The 2027 expansion Ascendance will introduce a new region called Skybound Eyrie alongside Master Rank content, returning monsters such as Kushala Daora and Lao-Shan Lung, and a new Boost Bracer gameplay system.

Capcom has a full slate of Switch 2 support already on the books: Onimusha: Way of the Sword shipped on September 4, PRAGMATA is dated for later in 2026, and a dedicated Capcom Spotlight on September 16 is set to open Tokyo Game Show 2026 with extended looks at Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance, Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen, Mega Man: Dual Override, PRAGMATA and Street Fighter 6.
