Marvel Snap Drops September 14 OTA Targeting Loki, The Collector and Black Cat

Second Dinner has published its September 14 over-the-air balance update for Marvel Snap, and the headline move is a direct nerf aimed at Loki decks without removing the trickster god from the metagame. The Collector, the Power-carry that has propped up nearly every Loki shell since the season began, drops from 2/2 to 2/0 in a change the developer says is meant to keep him relevant while letting other boards threaten to compete.

"It's a ding to his use in other decks, but that was already pretty low, and Loki will ensure he always has one or more homes available," the Marvel Snap team wrote.

The rest of the patch is aimed at giving linear and discard strategies more room. Shadow King climbs from 3/3 to 2/3, lifting his base rate so he can be justified outside Silver Surfer and Cerebro shells and offering players an alternative counter to the huge Power boards Loki has been enabling. Lady Sif gains one Power, moving to 3/5, to support Apocalypse, Hela and Agatha strategies that depend on her as a lynchpin. Black Cat is the biggest swing in the patch, jumping from 3/7 to 4/9 with the developer openly conceding that the change makes her more likely to be discarded than played, but arguing that the discard payoff is now worth it. Spider-Ham, who lost value after last week's patch, gets a small compensation buff from 2/2 back down to 1/1.

In tone and scope, this OTA is closer to a precision adjustment than a sweeping meta reset. The team explicitly avoided nuking Loki, noting that his raw performance has not been hyper-concerning even though his archetype has been everywhere. Instead, the goal is to nudge a wider field of decks into contention before the next season milestone.
