GungHo Announces B.L.U.E. NOVA, a Free-to-Play 30-Player Co-Op Shooter for Steam in 2027
GungHo Online Entertainment has unveiled B.L.U.E. NOVA, a free-to-play third-person PvE shooter built around a 'Ring System' that fuses solo runs into 30-player battles against a rogue AI. The game is heading to Steam in 2027 and will be on the show floor at Tokyo Game Show this week.

GungHo Online Entertainment has officially unveiled B.L.U.E. NOVA, a free-to-play online co-op PvE third-person shooter that is heading to Steam in 2027. The game was announced on September 14, 2026 alongside a first teaser trailer, a fully populated Steam store page, and an English-language official website, with a hands-on showing already locked in for Tokyo Game Show 2026 next week.
B.L.U.E. NOVA is built around a mechanic called the Ring System. Players drop into the battlefield solo and, as they encounter other players, can form a "RING" on the spot by standing close to allies. Linking up through R.I.N.G. unlocks an "Infinite Barrage" power-up that removes the need to reload and unlocks a hero's Ultimate ability, with each successive encounter turning chance meetings into stacked firepower. The main mode, Tower Raid, supports up to 30 players on a single battlefield working to dismantle enemy Barrier Towers and destroy the central Master Tower.
The setting is the year 2200, when humanity, warned of a superflare that will destroy Earth, migrates to the colony planet DIVAL. The planetary management AI EVE goes rogue, raises a mechanized army called Singula, and seizes control. Players join the United Star Force as Heroes to reclaim the planet, picking from a colorful roster of playable characters, customizing them with Armor and skill trees, and stacking XP bonuses across repeated dives so their power climbs dramatically over short bursts of play.
GungHo will exhibit B.L.U.E. NOVA at Tokyo Game Show 2026 at booth 06-C06 in Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21. The publisher will screen the game's teaser PV on the show floor alongside a venue-exclusive video and hand out limited-edition novelty items featuring original artwork to fans who wishlist the game on Steam or follow its official social accounts. GungHo's Virtual YouTuber group SNIVPA — Seraphy, Rico, Logi, and JJ — has also been revealed as four of the in-game heroes, with their debut single "Too Rich, Too Bold" serving as the game's theme song.
The Steam page confirms the game will support English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese, with English and Japanese full audio. Listed minimum specs include Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 16 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or Radeon RX 580 8GB, and 50 GB of storage, while recommended specs push to Windows 11, an Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, 32 GB of RAM, and a GeForce RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6800. As a free-to-play online title with in-app purchases listed, B.L.U.E. NOVA requires a stable broadband connection and an SSD.
Our Take
B.L.U.E. NOVA is one of the more interesting free-to-play pitches of the Tokyo Game Show window because the Ring System is genuinely doing something different on the third-person-shooter side. The Tower Raid pitch of solo-drop-into-30-player co-op against an AI army is closer in spirit to a session-based PvE extraction shooter than to a typical live-service hero shooter, and the studio's decision to lean into anime art and an SNIVPA-led cast suggests GungHo is aiming at the same audience that backed its Puzzle & Dragons-era hits rather than a typical military-shooter crowd. Pricing and monetization specifics — banner economy, hero gacha, battle pass cadence — will be the real test once Tokyo Game Show hands-on coverage starts on September 17.
