The Gamescom Award 2026 nomination list has been officially revealed today, a day before Gamescom Opening Night Live kicks off in Cologne, Germany. 4A Games and Deep Silver's Metro: 2039 leads the field with five nominations, including Best Visuals, Most Epic and cross-platform nominations across every release version of the game.

The international judging panel of games journalists and content creators picked the most anticipated titles from a large submissions pool. Indie release Denshattack! from Undercoders and Fireshine Games follows with four nominations. Creative Assembly and SEGA's horror sequel Alien: Isolation 2 also received four, while Total War: Warhammer 40,000 and RGG Studio's Stranger Than Heaven picked up two apiece. SEGA ended up with eight total nominations across its published slate, the most of any publisher this year. Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios' Forza Horizon 6 earned three, and The Game Bakers' climbing adventure Cairn picked up two.

Three Korean-developed titles feature prominently. Pearl Abyss's Crimson Desert received two nominations, KRAFTON's Age Twisters earned a spot in the platform category, and Hypergryph's Arknights: Endfield was nominated for Best Mobile Game alongside HoYoverse's Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, NetEase's Where Winds Meet and Silver Studio's Silver Palace.

The complete Best PC Game category is led by Metro: 2039, with Denshattack!, Alien: Isolation 2, Cairn, Tides of Annihilation, Stranger Than Heaven and Total War: Warhammer 40,000 also nominated. Switch 2 nominees include Denshattack!, Mega Man: Dual Override, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, OPUS: Prism Peak and Rayman Legends Retold.

Beyond the jury-selected nominees, three consumer-voted categories remain open: ARTS, PLATFORM and Best Booth, alongside Best Merch and Best Trailer/Announcement. Voting opens Wednesday, August 26 and runs until Thursday, August 27 at 7:00 AM ET, in person at the Cologne venue via QR code or through the official gamescom website.

CGMagazine confirmed the full list today, with voting set to begin the moment the show floor opens.
