FromSoftware Closes The Duskbloods Network Test Early After Server Issues, Apologises on X

FromSoftware has closed down the first day of the closed network test for The Duskbloods early after "game server issues" left large numbers of testers stuck on the title screen and unable to enter matches. The studio confirmed the decision through a statement on its official X account on August 21, 2026, saying it would share updated testing schedules later. The closure is being covered by Eurogamer, Kotaku, Game Informer, GamesRadar and Nintendo Life, with all outlets pointing to a public apology issued on FromSoftware's social channels.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to those who were waiting for the first The Duskbloods network test due to game server issues," the statement on the official FromSoftware X account read, as quoted by Eurogamer. "We regret to inform you that today's session is now closed. We will continue to work on improving the servers and will announce future schedules at a later date." The session had been scheduled to run for around three more hours before FromSoftware decided to pull the plug.

Testers began reporting connection problems within minutes of the closed network test going live at 12 PM BST, with many describing being stuck on the title screen while trying to enter matchmaking. FromSoftware initially suggested some old-fashioned router-side advice, but the volume of complaints forced a full closure of the first slot roughly two hours after the test opened. Additional test windows are still scheduled across the weekend and into Monday, with the official Nintendo store page for The Duskbloods confirming the game as a Switch 2 exclusive and additional server capacity work expected before the next sessions.

The Duskbloods is FromSoftware's first fully new project since Elden Ring and its first PvPvE-focused game, and one of the highest-profile exclusives on Nintendo's next-generation console. The closed network test is the first chance many players have had to try the Bloodsworn-versus-Bloodsworn combat that the studio has been teasing since the game's Nintendo Direct reveal, and FromSoftware's prompt public apology and short-form update to players suggests it is treating the early server failures as a learning step rather than a release-blocker.
