Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.56 Goes Live With Beastmaster Limited Job and Crucible of the Unbroken Duty

Square Enix has shipped Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.56 on September 8, adding the new Beastmaster limited melee DPS job, the Crucible of the Unbroken duty, four main scenario quests that tee up the January 2027 Evercold expansion, weekly restrictions removed and the Echo enabled in AAC Heavyweight Tier (Savage), and a Crucible Rankings ladder starting September 24.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.56 Goes Live With Beastmaster Limited Job and Crucible of the Unbroken Duty

Square Enix has shipped Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.56 following the all-worlds maintenance on September 7, concluding the Dawntrail main scenario arc ahead of the Evercold expansion currently slated for January 2027. The new limited melee DPS job Beastmaster, the Crucible of the Unbroken duty and a refreshed Crucible Rankings ladder are the headline additions, alongside the next batch of New Game+ chapters and a slate of battle-system changes aimed at high-end raiders.

Beastmaster is the headline of the patch. The new job opens at level 1 and caps at level 50, shares its gear with monk and samurai, and uses a familiar-based combat system in which the player builds pacts with creatures and calls them in as party members to unleash special combos. The role plays like a melee DPS with no base class, in line with Square Enix's previous limited jobs. Beastmaster is unlocked by completing the quest "Strangers in the Wood" in New Gridania, with a level 50 Disciple of War or Magic prerequisite and a completion gate on "The Ultimate Weapon." Like blue mage, beastmaster is barred from Duty Roulette, Eureka, Bozja, the Occult Crescent, variant and criterion dungeons, ultimate raids, Stone/Sky/Sea, Squadron Missions, Deep Dungeons, PvP and the Hall of the Novice, and is locked out of role actions. FATEs reward bonus experience for the job, with no separate open-world bonus.

The patch also adds a paired endgame activity, the Crucible of the Unbroken, which unlocks new beastmaster quest chapters at levels 30, 40 and 50 as the player clears specific boards. A Crucible Rankings system is layered on top: Season One runs from Thursday, September 24, 2026 until the release of Patch 7.58, followed by a preseason and then Season Two. Rankings compile the player's three most recent attempts on each board, and results will appear on a dedicated Lodestone page.

On the story side, Patch 7.56 continues the Dawntrail finale with four new main scenario quests that begin with "A Winter's Dream" at the Rising Stones and tease the coming Solstice and the fate Halmarut is said to await all worlds. Two New Game+ chapters have also been added: Dawntrail — Part 4 covering "Winter's Prelude," and a dedicated Beastmaster (Limited Job) chapter that folds the new job quests into NG+ once unlocked. October 28, 2026 brings the additional limited-job quest "Keybound Brawler" at the Manderville Gold Saucer.

Raiders get two adjustments to AAC Heavyweight Tier (Savage): the weekly lockout has been removed and the Echo buff is enabled, easing reclears and progression during the patch window. New outfits, mounts, minions, fashion accessories, facewear, music, sound effects, voice lines, adventurer plate accents and portrait accents are also live, alongside a contest-winning FFXIV hairstyle. Two new text commands, /beastsize and /bestiary, round out the system changes.

Patch 7.56 is free for owners of A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers and is required for Endwalker and Dawntrail content. The full patch notes are published on the official Lodestone at https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/a8a526ad64db45c8ca8d1c7fdcce8a5eedaa18bc. Players should note that while Beastmaster is fully functional in Patch 7.56, two follow-up patches are still planned before Evercold: 7.57 and 7.58.
