EA Sports Drops NHL 27 Overhead Gameplay Video Showcasing Connected Franchise Creator League

EA Sports NHL premiered the NHL 27 Overhead Gameplay video on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, offering fans the first extended look at raw in-game footage centered on the new Connected Franchise Creator League mode. The video went live at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET on the EA Sports NHL YouTube channel, landing just two days before Deluxe Edition early access opens on September 4 at 9:00 a.m. PT.

The Connected Franchise Creator League is the headline feature in NHL 27's franchise suite, complementing the standard Offline Franchise with an online, customizable, community-driven mode. According to EA's pre-launch materials, the Creator League adds commissioner tools, flexible scheduling, customizable rules, and roster management on top of the existing franchise backbone. The Overhead Gameplay footage is positioned as the first deep, uninterrupted look at how those systems play out on the ice rather than the highlight-reel moments shown in earlier trailers.

NHL 27 also ships with rebuilt Authentic Atmospheres across all 32 NHL arenas, including team-specific goal songs, chants, signature lighting, jumbotron content, and broadcast packages. New commentary from ESPN play-by-play voice John Buccigross and former NHL goaltender Darren Pang replaces the previous booth, and a refreshed broadcast presentation includes updated camera work and on-screen storytelling between whistles. Every NHL team also runs a unique playbook and tendencies, powered by ICE-Q and NHL EDGE tracking data.

The full launch follows on September 11, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Standard Edition players will be able to begin downloading on that date, while Deluxe Edition owners gain access on September 4. Pre-orders are open now through the official store.
