Crimson Moon Launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC Today With Optional Two-Player Co-op

ProbablyMonsters' gothic action RPG Crimson Moon is now available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, locking in the September 1 launch window confirmed earlier this summer.

Crimson Moon is set in the fallen city of Gildenarch, where players step into the role of a Nephilim, a half-human, half-angel warrior forged to push back the Infernal Legion and confront the beings the studio calls the Dead Gods. The game's blood-soaked, souls-like melee combat is paired with an evolving Celestial Transformation system that fuels itself on Angel Power as the campaign pushes through increasingly dangerous Wards.

Every hunt is fully playable solo, but ProbablyMonsters is shipping the game with optional two-player online co-op built into the core encounter design. According to the developer, encounters dynamically scale between solo and co-op sessions, so co-op is not simply about adding more damage output but about introducing a shared tactical layer through coordinated Weapon Arts, build experimentation and shoulder-to-shoulder boss fights. Each player also brings a shared life pool and the ability to trade equipment on the fly.

The Standard Edition launches at $19.99, with a $29.99 Deluxe Edition that adds the Ceremonial Armor Set, the guitar-shaped Axe of the Gods weapon cosmetic and access to the post-launch content expansion. A standalone Deluxe upgrade is also available for $10 for players who pick up the Standard Edition at launch and later change their minds.

PlayStation players get a small piece of platform-exclusive content on day one regardless of which edition they buy: the Sonai Magistrate Armor Set. Players on PlayStation 5 Pro additionally benefit from native PSSR support for a sharper image across the game's gothic cityscape. The base game has been rated 18+ by rating boards in Brazil, Germany and Indonesia for extreme violence, with the PC spec calling for at least a GTX 1070-class GPU and 16 GB of RAM.

The launch lands in an unusually crowded window for action RPGs: Crimson Moon arrives just two days ahead of The Blood of Dawnwalker on September 3, with Onimusha: Way of the Sword close behind on September 4. The $20 entry price and the early-September slot are the studio's clearest differentiators against those bigger-budget neighbors, and the optional co-op gives pairs of friends on different platforms a shared launch moment rather than a staggered rollout.
