Blizzard Begins Overwatch Rush Soft Launch in Indonesia Today, With Malaysia and the Philippines to Follow

Blizzard Entertainment has begun soft launching Overwatch Rush, its new top-down Hero shooter built specifically for mobile, in Indonesia today, August 31, 2026. Malaysia and the Philippines will follow in the days after, with the staged rollout designed to let the studio test, learn, and optimize the experience before expanding to additional regions.

Overwatch Rush is a new game built from the ground up for mobile by a dedicated team inside Blizzard, separate from the Overwatch Team 4 that continues to work on the main PC and console title. The soft launch introduces a new Hero Level progression system, three new maps built for top-down play, two new modes, and the debut of Brigitte as a Vanguard in the Rush format, alongside a reworked Lúcio whose abilities are now closer to his iconic Overwatch identity.

The two new modes are Duo Free for All, where three duos face off in fast-paced team-versus-team matches, and 3v3 Control, a smaller-scale objective mode built for tight decision-making. The three new maps are Narwhal Cove (Gibraltar), Hydronet Gardens (Cairo), and Mansión Portero (Dorado), all redesigned for top-down combat. Other additions include a redesigned tutorial, an Aim Assist toggle, a new Group Up ping, and improved ally health and ultimate readiness tracking.

The launch roster for soft launch includes Brigitte, the updated Lúcio, Tracer, Reinhardt, Soldier: 76, Reaper, Kiriko, Pharah, and Mercy, with additional heroes planned after the test period. A new Kingpin Soldier: 76 Epic skin is included in a starter bundle available after the tutorial, alongside additional Credit bundles for progression.

The soft launch is limited to Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines during this phase. Blizzard has not announced a wider release date, but said it will share more details as the rollout progresses and that it hopes to bring Overwatch Rush to more regions in future phases. The game runs on iOS and Android, with the iPhone XS and second-generation iPhone SE among the listed supported devices.
