ARC Raiders Live Update 1.42.0 Adds Phantom Targets Part 2, Anomalia Outfit, and Anti-Cheat Improvements

Embark Studios has rolled out the ARC Raiders Live Update 1.42.0, bringing the second part of the Phantom Targets event, a new player project, fresh Twitch drops, and a substantial round of fixes on top of an updated anti-cheat update.

The highlight of the new content is the continuation of the Phantom Targets storyline, paired with the Phantom Targets Part 2 Raider Project and the new Anomalia Outfit. Shani has finally localized the source of the phantom activity to erratic Wasps that exhibit unusual behavior: strange sounds, irregular flight patterns, and unidentifiable tech, all swarming toward a single destination that players will need to investigate further. The Tick Hunter Set is now available as part of the event.

Embark has also reworked how the game schedules its Map Conditions. Starting with Live Update 1.42.0, the schedule is now offset on a regional basis, so each region sees Map Conditions during its peak hours instead of everyone being locked to a single global window. Embark says it should make Map Conditions easier to catch regardless of time zone, and the in-game Map Condition tracker has been updated to reflect the change.

The anti-cheat side of the patch is described in the developer’s update as well. Embark has worked closely with Anybrain and Denuvo Anti-Cheat on several improvements that have already led to action against accounts using recently popularized cheating tools. The team is also pushing harder on permanent sanctions for serial cheaters, improving detection of economy exploits, and developing new methods that make it harder to obtain new accounts or encourage cheaters to return. Embark additionally mentioned ongoing initiatives against teaming and matchmaking abuse, with more information promised when they are ready. Standard advice applies: enabling 2FA or passkeys on accounts connected to your Embark ID and never sharing credentials remains essential.

Two new Twitch drops are also live: the Car Freshener and the Ceramic Vase. In addition, the Rubber Duck Design Contest winners have been announced. Three finalists — gekko.rar, im_AshCheeks, and nassguhl — were picked from a Discord popular vote and will have their ducks added to Raider Dens in a future update.

The fix list itself is wide-ranging. Audio improvements refine footstep and movement sounds indoors and through foliage, add new surface-specific cues for plastic cloth and tarps, and introduce distinct firing sounds for all Tier 3 magazine upgrades. On the gameplay side, the Snitch can now call in a Rocketeer, or a Firefly and Hornet duo, while Snitch Scanners are intentionally unaffected. Fixes include stomp attacks from the Queen and Matriarch no longer hitting through walls from too far away, the Photoelectric Cloak now working correctly against Turbine lightning attacks and Matriarch missiles, and the Dolabra, Hullcracker, and Rascal dealing correct damage in the Practice Range. Spawn protection has been added to the Surge Coil Trap, and players can now rebind Quick Wheel slots.

Technical fixes improve UI texture streaming cache for better memory efficiency and reliability, and several crashes have been patched. UI polish corrects a project tile issue showing “Part X completed” on projects without parts, fixes spelling errors and localization across multiple languages, clarifies matchmaking error messages, makes the “Claim” shortcut in the logbook bring players to the right project page, and adds a Region label on the Map selection screen.

Known issues are still being tracked: the team is investigating crash reports on Xbox Series S, an Epic build issue where players can lose keyboard input and are advised to disable overlays or alt-tab, a sticky notification dot on the Projects tab, edge cases around animation, throwing, and weapon swap timing, visual glitches on certain outfits, several clipping or floating-object bugs, and a few UI edge cases like Merit icons appearing on items that don’t actually grant Merits. Embark also points to the existing workaround for Windows Update KB5121003-related PC crashes that the team previously shared.
